Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses may be obtained at the office of the Town Clerk at the Royalton Town Hall. Both parties must be present at the time of application. Requirements for application are an original or certified copy of your birth certificate, with the raised seal, and a valid driver's license, or non-driver's picture ID. Blood tests are no longer required in New York State. There is a $40.00 processing fee due at time of application. The marriage license must be obtained a minimum of 24 hours prior to your ceremony and is valid for 60 days after issuance.

If either party us under the age of 18, parental permission is needed from both birth parents and both parents or legal guardians must be present at the time of issuance of the license to sign the consent form.

If either party is divorced, your divorce papers must be provided showing the actual date granted. If divorced more than one time, each set of divorce papers must be provided.

If either party was previously married and widowed, that party must provide a certified copy of their former spouse's death certificate.
