Town Board Minutes - Budget Workshop

BUDGET WORKSHOP MEETING

October 23, 2019

The Budget Workshop Meeting of the Town of Royalton was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the Royalton Town Hall, 5316 Royalton Center Road, Middleport, New York. Supervisor Daniel R. Bragg called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

The following were present:

Town Board Members Lee Criswell, Bradley Rehwaldt, Joshua Walker, Carol Wittcop

Account Clerk Lorretta Criswell

Deputy Town Clerk Patricia Hinds

Town Justice James Budde

Chief Court Clerk Daphne Nieman

Dog Control Officer Scott Wymyczak

Judge Budde and Chief Court Clerk Nieman were present to discuss the budget submissions for the Town Justice Courts.

Judge Budde discussed the arraignment situation in the County going forward. There will no longer be arraignments done at the Town Hall, they will all be done at the County level. The judges will receive a stipend from New York State when they are scheduled to handle arraignments at the County. The clerks will be accompanying the judges, but there is no compensation set up for the clerks. This new program is mandated by New York State.

Discussion ensued regarding the new mandates in the courts and the extra time needed to get the job done. Each Judge is allowed to have one Full-Time clerk.

Supervisor Bragg thanked Judge Budde and Chief Court Clerk Nieman for presenting their case for their budget submission.

The Town Board reviewed a few other line items in the budget.

The final Budget Workshop will be scheduled for Wednesday, October 30th @ 6:30 PM.

There being no further information to come before this board, Supervisor Bragg adjourned the Budget Workshop Meeting at 7:50 PM.
